Greece will have a national pavilion and three events at the 45th Sharjah International Book Fair in the United Arab Emirates, running from 4 to 15 November 2026. The Culture Ministry published its announcement and detailed programme on 3 November.

The three meetings

Thursday 5 November, 10:00, Forum 2: presentation of the Arabic translation of Christos Markogiannakis’s crime novel Death on the Athens Riviera. The translation is by Khaled Raouf, published by Aseer Al Kotob. The author will speak with Sissy Papathanassiou and translator Roni Bou Saba.

Sunday 8 November, 10:00, Greek pavilion, Hall 6, Stand M-20: discussion of connections between contemporary Greek and Arabic literature, with translator Mohamed Abdelaziz and writer and translator Persa Koumoutsi.

Monday 9 November, 10:00–12:00, at the same venue: a public meeting with Persa Koumoutsi, Christos Markogiannakis and Mohamed Abdelaziz. Times are reproduced as listed in the official event programme.

A separate professional programme

The ministry also reports Greek participation in the fair’s professional programme, which concludes by 3 November. This is distinct from the 4–15 November fair and the three events above.

The initiative presents Greek books and translations to the Arabic-language publishing sector. New partnerships are organisers’ objectives; the announcement does not establish publishing contracts already signed or sales results. It supplies no ticket or reservation information, which is not invented here.
