Thomas Markle faces federal charge and home detention in the US
US prosecutors announced the arrest of Meghan Markle’s father over alleged possession of child sexual abuse material.

Thomas Markle, 82, Meghan Markle’s father, was arrested in Florida on 6 November, according to the US Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California. He faces one federal count of possessing child sexual abuse material.
Prosecutors said the FBI searched two storage units in the Los Angeles area under court-authorised warrants and seized about 78 items.
After his initial appearance in federal court in Tampa, he was released under home detention and electronic monitoring pending trial, Reuters reported. No plea was entered at that hearing. He had previously denied the allegations.
He has not been convicted. Prosecutors stressed that the presumption of innocence applies unless guilt is proved in court.
