Thesprotia and Thessaloniki: 10 arrested in migrant smuggling investigation
Greek police said the case file covers 41 alleged smuggling incidents. Those arrested will be brought before the judicial authority in Thesprotia.

Ten people were arrested in simultaneous operations in Thesprotia and Thessaloniki on the morning of 5 November, the Hellenic Police announced on 6 November. The case concerns an alleged network that arranged border crossings and onward transport for migrants in return for payment. The case file also names a person who police say is already in pretrial detention.
Police attribute 41 incidents involving the transport of more than 500 people to the network. They allege that in some cases suspected members withheld passports to secure repayment through work. Police said Europol cooperated in the investigation. Four passports and three cars were among the items seized in searches.
The ten people arrested are due to be brought before the judicial authority in Thesprotia, police said. The scale of the alleged activity and the retention of documents are preliminary police findings and remain subject to judicial review.
