Updated 07.11.2026 · 14:07, Athens time — What changed

In the official snapshot checked at 07.11.2026 · 14:04, Athens time, Labour was narrowly ahead in the party vote with 706,443 votes, or 29.31%, against 705,174 votes, or 29.26%, for National. New Zealand’s Electoral Commission showed 99.0% of results counted.

The order of the two parties reversed from this article’s previous snapshot at 11:58, when National was ahead. The margin in the newer snapshot was 1,269 votes. The chart has been updated using the same official figures and check time.

The count remains preliminary

The Commission continues to label the count preliminary and the seat allocation a projection. A narrow lead in the party vote does not establish a parliamentary majority or a completed agreement to govern.

The Commission still aims to publish official results on Friday, 27 November. Formal declaration is made through the NZ Gazette. Vote shares and the margin can change; no final victory is attributed to either party.

What remains preliminary

The Electoral Commission displays seat projections. Labels showing which candidates lead in electorates are not formal declarations of elected members. Party-vote shares alone do not establish who will form a government.

The Commission aims to publish official results on Friday, 27 November. It makes clear that the current page is not the formal declaration, which is made through publication in the NZ Gazette. The article and chart show a specific preliminary-count snapshot and the figures may change.
