The Defence Ministry confirms the signing. The option does not amount to an order for six aircraft.

Updated 02.11.2026 · 16:48, Athens time — What changed
The Greek Defence Ministry confirms that Greece and Portugal signed an intergovernmental agreement on 2 November for three EMBRAER KC-390 aircraft, with an option for three more. The heads of the relevant armaments directorates signed in the presence of Nikos Dendias and Nuno Melo.
The signing advances the previously announced visit. The option for three additional aircraft is separate from the basic procurement. The statement discloses no price or full delivery schedule and does not establish that six aircraft have already been ordered or delivered.
Previous updates — history
Greece’s Ministry of National Defence announced that an intergovernmental agreement with Portugal for three Embraer KC-390 aircraft is scheduled to be signed on Monday 2 November.
The signing forms part of Portuguese Defence Minister Nuno Melo’s official visit and meeting with Nikos Dendias. The welcome is scheduled for 10:30, with joint statements at approximately 11:50.
Scheduled signing, not delivery
The confirmed development is the official advance announcement of the agreement. It does not establish that signing has already occurred or aircraft have been delivered.
This release gives no price, delivery schedule or detailed support terms. It therefore does not establish when the aircraft will be available or the overall fiscal cost.
The next material evidence
Assessing procurement requires separating the agreement, payments, acceptance of deliveries and operational integration. The next update should examine the signed text and official clarifications while retaining that distinction.
