Updated 04.11.2026 · 12:01, Athens time — What changed
The Standing Committee on Economic Affairs has scheduled examination of the bill on disposable income, savings and investment for Friday 6 November 2026 at 10:00 in the Senate Chamber, according to Parliament’s official meeting notice.
This adds a specific timetable to the previous report of filing on 3 November. It is a future sitting: it does not establish that examination has already taken place, that the committee has approved the bill or that Parliament has passed it. The tax and public-pay measures described below remain proposals in the filed text.
Previous updates — history
The Ministry of National Economy and Finance submitted its bill on disposable income, savings and investment to Parliament on 3 November 2026. Parliament lists it as submitted and assigns it to the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs.
Three proposals in the submitted text
- Advance income tax: Article 12 proposes reducing the rate from 55% to 50% for individuals with business income. Article 52 applies it to advance tax assessed for tax year 2027 and later.
- Birth benefit: Article 23 proposes €4,500 for the fourth dependent child, rising by €1,000 for each subsequent child. Amounts for the first three remain unchanged in the draft.
- Public sector: Article 28 provides for a €500 Christmas allowance for the categories it specifies, payable each year on 16 December or on the preceding working day if that date is not a working day.
Submission does not trigger any payment or tax change. The measures may be amended during scrutiny and depend on the final text and its publication.
