Heating allowance: new decision sets application deadline of 4 December

The 2026–2027 Gazette decision provides a 30% uplift, income and property tests, and an advance by 23 December. Publication of the rules is distinct from activation of the new application period.

Decision A.1230 of 28 October 2026, published in Government Gazette B 6569 on 30 October and posted by AADE on 31 October, sets the heating allowance rules for 2026–2027. Article 4 sets an application deadline of 4 December 2026, inclusive.

When checked on 2 November, the public myThermansi information page still displayed the previous period’s deadline and guides. It did not confirm activation of 2026–2027 applications. The new decision’s deadline is therefore reported separately from the application’s status.

Which households are covered

The measure concerns a main residence that is owned, rented or provided free of charge, and one subsidised heating type per beneficiary. The basic annual family-income limits are:

  • €16,000 for single, widowed or separated taxpayers.
  • €24,000 for a couple without children, increased by €5,000 per child.
  • €29,000 for a single-parent family, increased by €5,000 for each child after the first.

For those conducting business activities, an additional €80,000 total gross-revenue limit applies to the persons specified in the decision. Tax-year 2025 return data are used.

Property value under the 2026 ENFIA assessment must not exceed €200,000 for single, widowed, separated or divorced taxpayers, or €260,000 for married couples, civil partners and single-parent families. The limit increases by €40,000 per dependent child.

How the amount is calculated

Reference amounts are €380 for electricity, €360 for pellets, €350 for firewood or district heating, €325 for natural gas and €300 for heating oil, blue kerosene or LPG. These combine with the locality’s weather coefficient and a 20% increase per dependent child. For 2026–2027, the calculated allowance receives an additional 30% uplift.

The general range is €100–€1,040. Where the coefficient is at least 1, the ceiling reaches €1,300; at least 1.2, it reaches €1,560, with the decision’s additional increases. €1,560 is not a flat payment for everyone. Receiving the full calculated allowance requires eligible purchases worth at least twice that amount; lower purchases affect the payable amount under the decision’s rules.

Scheduled payments and invoices

  • By 23 December 2026: the advance, under the rules for previous and new beneficiaries.
  • By 28 May 2027: the next payment. For the relevant fuels, invoices must be issued by 15 April 2027 and entered by 29 April 2027.
  • By 30 July 2027: an additional payment for natural gas and district heating, with invoices issued by 30 June and entered by 15 July. Electricity payments rely on DEDDIE data, with a supplementary settlement also due by 30 July.

The general consumption period is 1 October 2026–31 March 2027, with heating-oil purchases from 15 October and firewood or pellet purchases from 1 June 2026. Before finalising an application, an IBAN must be registered in myAADE with the applicant as an account holder or joint holder.

Income limits alone do not establish eligibility. Exclusions cover hosted persons, dependent family members and other categories; firewood, pellets and district heating have specific geographical conditions. Electricity support excludes Social Residential Tariff beneficiaries and inactive connections. Final eligibility requires a combined check of the decision’s conditions.
