Greek police announced six arrests and 24 solved fraud and theft cases, including completed and attempted offences, on 7 November 2026. The Organised Crime Directorate’s investigation concerns people who allegedly posed as DEDDIE electricity-network employees.

The operation took place on the afternoon of Thursday, 5 November in West Attica. Police say five people were arrested at premises used as a call centre and another in an area of the same building where items described by police as stolen property were kept.

The alleged method

Callers invoked a supposed electricity leak or technical fault and asked residents to gather money and valuables at accessible places inside or outside their homes. According to the release, other members then visited and removed the items.

Police put the unlawful financial benefit at over €565,000. That differs from the cash seized: the release lists €4,100 alongside gold coins, jewellery, phones and other findings.

Prosecutorial stage

The arrested individuals were brought before the competent prosecutor. The method and attribution of cases are findings of the police investigation. The announcement does not report a court conviction; the presumption of innocence applies.
