Four men were arrested in Acharnes and Zefyri during an investigation into fraud and theft targeting older people in Attica. According to the Hellenic Police statement dated 4 November 2026, the operation took place on 1 November, and 25 cases have been cleared.

The method described by police

The accused allegedly approached older people in pairs, posing as accountants or associates of relatives. Investigators say they persuaded victims to enter a vehicle and accompany them to banks, ATMs or their homes, where money and jewellery were taken.

This account concerns in-person approaches. Police describe the claimed accountant role and connection to a relative as pretexts used to gain trust.

Findings and the criminal case

Police estimate the proceeds at more than €125,000. They report seizing €5,000 in cash, a vehicle, jewellery and four mobile phones during searches. Estimated proceeds and seized cash are separate amounts.

The arrested men were brought before the competent prosecutor. These are investigative findings and alleged acts; the police announcement is not a criminal conviction.
