Haiti: authorities confirm death of gang leader Mathias Saintil
The prime minister announced the death of a gang leader. A rights group identified Saintil and said he had been injured in a drone strike.

Haitian authorities confirmed on 6 November, local time, that Mathias Saintil, leader of the Nan Boston gang, had died, according to Reuters. Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé announced the death of a gang leader on social media without naming him in the post, the Associated Press reported.
Haiti’s National Network for the Defense of Human Rights identified Saintil, according to the news agencies. In the group’s account reported by Reuters, he was seriously wounded in a drone strike in the Boston area near Port-au-Prince on the evening of 5 November and died the following day while receiving medical care.
The announcement came as Haitian police and foreign forces continued operations against armed gangs. The account of the strike and its circumstances comes from the rights group; the prime minister’s post did not describe them.
