Updated 02.11.2026 · 18:06, Athens time — What changed

The explicitly specified period of 14:30–18:00 Athens time on 2 November 2026 for the mandatory pause in specified outdoor work has ended. The expired time-limited notice is removed from the active Alert.

Expiry of that period does not establish that every outdoor activity can safely resume. Employers retain health and safety duties, while local restrictions and instructions have their own validity. Administrative Red Code mobilisation for 2–3 November is separate from this work-pause window.

Previous updates — history

The Labour Ministry requires specified outdoor work to stop on Monday 2 November, from 14:30 to 18:00 Athens time, in the affected areas of the Dodecanese, Corfu and mainly coastal Epirus named in its circular. This does not automatically extend to Tuesday or nationwide.

Construction and delivery work

Covered activities include outdoor manual work in construction and technical projects, worksites, ship-repair zones and deliveries using two-wheel vehicles, scooters or roller skates. All employment arrangements are included, including digital-platform workers under Article 68 of Law 4808/2021.

Exceptions and penalties

Important and socially critical health, transport and utility infrastructure is exempt, provided necessary safety measures and suitable personal protective equipment are supplied. The circular specifies a €2,000 fine per worker for failure to comply.

Remote work is a recommendation

Private businesses in areas expected to be particularly affected are advised to use remote work where organisationally feasible. To accommodate changed arrival and departure times, employers may omit advance registration of each working-time arrangement change in ERGANI within the circular's scope.

The official announcement and signed circular 29392 of 2 November 2026, reference ΡΧ0Σ46ΝΛΔΓ-ΚΑΞ, were checked. This specific work-pause period is separate from Civil Protection's broader Red Code mobilisation for 2–3 November.
