The security context has been supplemented with UKMTO weekly overview No. 13, produced on 30 October 2026. For the Strait of Hormuz, Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, it records 144 reported events between 28 February and 28 October. This is a total of events, not exclusively attacks.

For the last seven days covered by the overview, the agency reports two attacks in the Strait of Hormuz and one additional suspicious-activity incident in the Arabian Gulf. It notes that reporting is voluntary and that additional incidents cannot be independently verified; the overview is not a complete record of every event.

Warning 188-26 concerning Lavan is dated 30 October, after the weekly overview’s 28 October cut-off. The two records therefore cover different time periods. The total of 144 is not attributed to this vessel and does not substantiate separate claims about four burning ships.

Previous updates — history

UKMTO’s original warning 188-26 records a report that a vessel was hit on its port side by an unknown projectile, causing a fire. The location is 40 nautical miles south of Iran’s Lavan Island in the Gulf.

The incident is dated 30 October 2026 at 18:00 UTC — 20:00 Athens time, with the master listed as the source. According to the warning, the crew were reported safe and no environmental impact had been reported at the time.

The agency advises cautious transit and reporting suspicious activity while authorities investigate. It gives no vessel name, perpetrator or weapon type. An unknown projectile does not specifically establish a missile or mine.

This warning identifies a different location and time from the earlier 187-26 report northeast of Khasab. It does not establish that this is the same vessel mentioned in other claims about burning tankers.
