45 people died and 961 were injured in Greek road crashes in August 2026, according to provisional figures ELSTAT released on 30 October. Injuries comprise 49 serious and 912 slight cases.

Crashes involving death or injury numbered 817, compared with 854 in August 2025, down 4.3%. Deaths fell from 70 to 45, a 35.7% decrease. This concerns the specific month, not the whole of 2026.

The survey does not represent all property-damage-only incidents. Figures can be updated, and the comparison alone establishes neither crash causes nor the impact of a particular road-safety measure.
