A project with a €4 million budget to improve road safety on municipal roads in Tripoli has been included in a funding programme, according to the Ministry of National Economy and Finance’s announcement on 23 October 2026.

The announcement attributes the decision to Alternate Minister Nikos Papathanasis and identifies the funding framework as the Special Just Development Transition Programme of the 2021–2025 National Development Programme. The programme’s name and period are reproduced as stated by the ministry.

Planned interventions

The project concerns roads with extensive damage from utility-network installation. For a total length of about 26 kilometres, it describes:

  • Removal of worn asphalt layers.
  • Cleaning and preparation of surfaces.
  • Laying an asphalt wearing course.
  • Local repairs to individual damaged areas.

Project inclusion, rather than a works start

The new development is inclusion in funding. The release identifies no contractor, specific roads or start and completion dates. It also announces no active traffic restrictions.

This particular announcement therefore does not establish that works have started or finished. The €4 million is the announced budget, rather than certified expenditure already paid.
