AEK Athens lost 3–1 to Shakhtar Donetsk in London on Wednesday 14 October, in matchday two of the Champions League league phase. UEFA’s official results list confirms the final score.

The Greek side opened the scoring in the 28th minute, but Shakhtar equalised from the penalty spot in the 34th, according to ERT News. The sides remained level until the closing stages.

The nominal home team scored the decisive goals in the 80th and 86th minutes. AEK’s early lead therefore brought no points from their visit to Stamford Bridge.

What comes next

AEK’s next European fixture is away to Manchester City on Tuesday 20 October, according to UEFA’s published schedule.

This was the second matchday of the league phase, not a knockout tie. AEK’s European campaign continues with the remaining fixtures on their schedule.
