The 10th and 24th Primary Schools of Serres are closed from Friday 23 through Monday 26 October 2026. The municipality announced the decision on 22 October, providing for distance learning.
Building inspection
According to ERTnews, plaster fell at the entrance of the shared school complex on Thursday, without injuring a pupil or teacher. ERT says the whole complex will be inspected to investigate the causes.
The municipality says the temporary suspension allows the extent of the problem to be assessed and necessary safety work to be carried out. The announcement concerns two specific schools, rather than a citywide school closure.
For families, the days without in-person classes are Friday 23 and Monday 26 October. Returning to the building should follow official information from the school and municipality, without assuming the inspections have been completed.
