The official 26 October announcement confirms all three occupants died. The incident occurred on the evening of 25 October; the circumstances remain under investigation.

Three people died after the car they were travelling in fell into the sea near gate E2 at the port of Piraeus on the evening of Sunday 25 October 2026. The Coast Guard’s announcement dated 26 October confirms the death toll, also reported by ERT.
The official account
According to the Coast Guard, the driver was initially recovered unconscious. The Underwater Missions Unit then inspected the vehicle, where two other occupants remained. A private crane helped lift the car, allowing the other two to be extracted.
All three were taken by an EKAV ambulance to Attikon University General Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
What remains under investigation
The Tzelepi First Port Department of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus is conducting a preliminary investigation. Post-mortem examinations were ordered at the Piraeus forensic service.
The official announcement does not establish why the car fell into the water. Rain, a technical fault or a driver’s action are therefore not presented as a verified cause. No marine pollution was detected, according to the Coast Guard.
