Patmos: desalination unit with 600 cubic metres per day delivered

The Kampos unit was inaugurated on 20 October. On Leros, the 3,000-cubic-metre-per-day water works and a 17 km pipeline remain under construction.

A new desalination unit with a rated capacity of 600 cubic metres per day has been delivered at Kampos on Patmos, according to a Greek Environment and Energy Ministry announcement on 21 October 2026. The inauguration took place one day earlier.

The unit is a completed project intended to strengthen the island's water supply. Its rated capacity is not in itself a measure of daily consumption or a guarantee that every summer requirement is covered.

What remains at the planning stage on Patmos

The ministry says work is under way to secure additional funding for another desalination project and sewerage works in Kampos and Groikos. It does not yet provide inclusion decisions, budgets or a completion timetable for every intervention. The additional actions are therefore not presented as already delivered.

Leros: work in progress, not a completed system

On Leros, the ministry delegation inspected works for a water-supply system rated at 3,000 cubic metres per day, together with a pipeline about 17 kilometres long. The ministry places funding at €5.3 million.

The release describes the Leros works as under implementation rather than as a fully operating integrated system. A waste and biological-waste management facility with a €4.7 million budget through the NSRF is also under construction.
