Illegal gambling: complaints against 18 influencers under preliminary investigation
The Finance Ministry confirms the complaints. ERT links the inquiry to social-media promotion of 19 unlicensed gambling websites and providers.

Complaints against 18 influencers for promoting illegal gambling have been filed, according to Economy and Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis. In his official address to the Hellenic Gaming Commission on 6 October 2026, he said the cases were under preliminary investigation.
What the inquiry concerns
ERT reported on 7 October that the Commission filed its complaint after checks into the social-media promotion of 19 unlicensed gambling websites and providers. The accounts had a combined 3.6 million followers; that figure describes their reach, not the number of gamblers.
An investigation, not a court judgment
Filing complaints and conducting a preliminary investigation do not constitute a conviction. The available sources do not establish a final court judgment or a specific fine imposed on each individual. Responsibility must be assessed by the competent authorities.
For readers, an account's popularity does not establish that an advertised service holds a licence. Commercial promotion and official oversight need to be distinguished.
