The Security Council unanimously adopted Greek-sponsored resolution 2832 on 19 October 2026, addressing the protection of children in armed conflict from violations committed or facilitated through digital technologies. The relevant UN office confirmed both its adoption and Greece's sponsorship.

What it asks of states

The resolution calls on states to take protective measures nationally and regionally. It also encourages the United Nations system to gather information, lessons learned and good practices on the risks and benefits of digital technologies for protecting children affected by conflict.

According to ERT's reporting, the text addresses recruitment through social networks, gaming platforms and communications tools. It includes safe ways to report abuse, support for victims and personal-data safeguards.

Prevention and support, not enforcement alone

The directions described by ERT include digital literacy, distance education and cooperation with digital service providers. Technological solutions are treated as support for child protection and education, not as a replacement for in-person care.

This is an adopted decision, no longer merely a scheduled vote. UN adoption must not be confused with a Greek implementing measure or with Greece's separate legislative process on social-media age limits.
