AADE says it is making the third 2026 farm-diesel excise-tax refund on 30 October. Its official release announces €33,937,935.33 being credited to 117,198 eligible farmers.

The payment concerns third-quarter 2026 road-diesel purchases whose invoices were transmitted through myDATA and e-send. It is not a new subsidy for every fuel purchase or a new application deadline.

Checking the refund

Farmers can use “Farmers’ Excise Tax Refund 2026” in myBusinessSupport to see the purchases included in the calculation and the amounts paid in each instalment. AADE reports a cumulative 2026 total of €79,839,664.46 for 126,997 beneficiaries; these are totals to date, not amounts additional to the third payment.

For help, the authority directs taxpayers to the free 1521 service on working days, 07:00–20:00, and to my1521 online under customs and excise-tax refunds.

This development concerns refunds for the previous quarter. Purchases through the myDiesel digital process from 1 November, as already announced, remain a separate next stage, explained in the history below.

Previous updates — history

Updated 22.10.2026 · 19:08, Athens time — What changed

The joint 22 October announcement by the finance ministry, agriculture ministry and AADE confirms myDiesel access and the start of compulsory registration for fuel-station operators today. AADE published separate farmer and station-operator guides and a presentation.

Access is through myAADE → Applications → Popular Applications → myDiesel, using TAXISnet credentials. Farmers check active vouchers and generate a QR-code voucher for the station to check and scan. Stations must be registered in AADE’s fuel-tank register and update their details.

Purchases under the new compulsory digital procedure still start on 1 November 2026. Today’s access concerns preparation and registration. The benefit concerns excise duty and the VAT attributable to that duty, not all VAT on the fuel.

The agriculture minister announced the start of work to update reference-quantity tables. No new tables or litre limits were presented. Today’s presentation also describes refund safeguards without citing a new Gazette publication; their enactment requires separate legal verification.

Report of 20 October — history

myDiesel enters production on 1 November 2026, allowing purchases of diesel exclusively for agricultural use with an excise-duty discount at the pump. Joint decision A.1224/16 October 2026 has already been published in Government Gazette B 6318 of 19 October. The ministries and AADE announced practical preparation dates on 20 October.

Eligibility and quantity limits

The decision covers individuals who have submitted a Single Aid Application for the current or previous year, are registered in the current year's Register of Farmers and Agricultural Holdings, and have professional-farmer or new-entrant professional-farmer status. It is not a discount for every landowner or every fuel purchase.

The excise discount is €0.41 per litre. The annual litre allowance is calculated from declared crops and livestock, using the decision's annex coefficients increased by 100%. There is no single allowance for everyone. For 1 November–31 December 2026, the application receives the remaining eligible quantity after subtracting quantities already purchased between 1 January and 31 October.

How a purchase works

The beneficiary enters the quantity requested and generates a digital voucher with a unique identifier and QR code. A registered station operator enters or scans that code, issues the discounted sales document and links it to the transaction in the application. Verification updates the available balance. Vouchers cannot exceed the remaining eligible quantity.

Vouchers have a limited validity period and expire automatically. The decision also provides an offline mobile-app fallback solely for exceptional technical difficulties: up to 50 litres per voucher and up to five such vouchers per beneficiary per calendar year.

Preparation access from 22 October

The joint announcement says the application will be available in myAADE on 22 October, with the mobile and tablet app following in the next few days. This does not bring forward purchases under the new system before 1 November. Participating stations must register and update their details in AADE's register.

Enacted rules versus proposals

The gazetted decision provides for excise refunds to participating stations after verification of sales documents, at least every Monday and Thursday, or the following working day if that date is a holiday or non-working day.

The announcement describes removal for the farmer of excise and the VAT attributable to that excise — not exemption from all VAT on the fuel. Separately, it identifies a proposed legislative provision, under public consultation and to be put to a vote, for refunding the corresponding VAT to stations and protecting refunds from seizure and offset. These additional safeguards are not presented here as already enacted law.
