ERTnews’s report at 16:37 on 22 October says all occupants are well and have been discharged from Kalymnos Health Centre. The earlier update recorded only an expectation of discharge.

The discharge information is attributed to ERT. The original Army General Staff release, rechecked, describes the crew’s precautionary transfer without a subsequent discharge update. The cause remains under investigation.

Earlier update — history

An Army UH-1H helicopter made a hard landing at the Kalymnos island defence command helipad on Thursday 22 October 2026 at 10:25, the Hellenic Army General Staff confirmed.

The official account

The General Staff says the crew is well and was taken to Kalymnos Health Centre as a precaution. The helicopter belongs to the 1st Army Aviation Brigade and was conducting a surveillance flight in the area of responsibility of the 80th National Guard Higher Command.

The statement, posted at 11:39, says the cause and circumstances are under investigation. It contains no technical findings.

The mayor’s account

In ERTnews’s reporting, Kalymnos Mayor Giannis Mastrokoukis described a malfunction at low altitude and said doctors had told him the occupants were expected to be discharged. These are the mayor’s statements; they are not final findings or confirmation that discharge has taken place.
