Corfu: separate days for the Old Town and the sea
A summer holiday with room for the town’s architecture, the coast and island villages.

Make the Old Town a main stop
Corfu’s Old Town is UNESCO-listed. Venetian, French and British influences offer reasons to look beyond the shops and notice buildings and public spaces. An initial walk without a strict checklist helps you decide where you would like to return for a longer visit.
Town or a seaside base?
A town base suits evening walks and cultural visits, while a seaside base puts swimming first. Decide which part of the coast interests you and how you will travel before booking. You do not need to cover every corner of the island on a first trip. Two well-planned areas can offer more than many hurried stops.
Villages and a green interior
Olive groves, hills and villages complement Corfu’s coastline. Choose a day route that comfortably fits your plans and leave time for a meal and a walk. This can provide a change from beach days and give the holiday a wider range of experiences.
A four-day outline
Our suggestion is the Old Town on day one, one coastal area on day two, villages on day three and a free fourth day. For a longer stay, add another coastal area as a separate day. Check services and journey times once dates are fixed; this editorial outline is intended to remain flexible.
