Updated 30.10.2026 · 14:07, Athens time — What changed
Castilla-La Mancha’s official 112 service announced deactivation of the 900 122 112 information line at 13:00 Spain — 14:00 Athens on 30 October 2026, saying it was no longer necessary. The article’s earlier advice to use that specific line no longer applies.
This concerns the disaster information line, not abolition of the emergency number 112. It does not by itself establish an end to the emergency plan or reopening of the railway.
The latest published PLATECAM decision remains level 1, from 10:25 Spain time on 30 October. Separate latest counts are 39 hospitalised at 10:30 Spain time on 30 October and 69 deaths at 11:00 Spain time on 29 October. They are not presented as a new combined 13:00 count.

Updated 30.10.2026 · 12:07, Athens time — What changed
PLATECAM for the Urda railway disaster has been reduced to emergency phase, level 1. Castilla-La Mancha’s official 112 service records the decision at 10:25 Spain — 11:25 Athens on 30 October 2026. It attributes the change to deactivation of the military emergency unit UME, which has completed its work at the accident site.
A separate health-service entry at 10:30 Spain — 11:30 Athens reports 39 people hospitalised in regional facilities, compared with 42 in the preceding entry. The change does not by itself establish a number of discharges or the total number injured.
The latest death-count entry on the same page remains 69 at 11:00 Spain — 12:00 Athens on 29 October. It is not presented as a new count today. The downgrade does not establish a complete end to the emergency or confirmed reopening of the railway. The family information line is 900 122 112. No final finding on causes is established.

42 people remain hospitalised in Castilla-La Mancha healthcare facilities, according to health-service figures added by the official 112 service for 14:00 Spain — 15:00 Athens on 29 October 2026.
The previous update at 11:00 Spain time reported 50 hospitalised. The latest addition does not revise the death toll: the most recent death-count entry on the same page remains 69 at 11:00 Spain time. These are separate observations at different times.
The hospital population is not the total number injured, and its change does not by itself establish the number discharged. Figures remain provisional and are not a finding on the cause of the collision.

Updated 29.10.2026 · 04:00, Athens time — What changed
Spain has declared three days of official mourning for those killed in the railway collision at Urda, Toledo. Royal Decree 949/2026 of 28 October was published in the official gazette, BOE, and took effect on its publication date. This is a published legal act, beyond the earlier announcement.
The mourning period runs from 00:00 on 29 October until 24:00 on 31 October 2026, using Spanish times. The national flag will fly at half-mast on public buildings and naval vessels.
The decree provides neither a new casualty count nor findings on the causes. Castilla-La Mancha’s official 112 page retains separate records from 28 October: 68 deaths at 16:00 and 53 people remaining in hospital at 21:00 Spanish time. These are not presented as a new count today. The government’s commitment to investigate does not establish proven responsibility.

These are successive counts of people in hospital, not the total number injured or a documented number of discharges. Counts remain provisional and do not establish the cause of the collision.

Castilla-La Mancha’s official emergency service added an entry for around 19:00 Spanish time — 20:00 Athens on 28 October: 107 people are hospitalised in healthcare centres in that region. That geographic scope is retained explicitly; this is not presented as the total number of injured people across Spain.
No newer death toll was added to the checked page. The previous 16:00 Spanish-time entry recorded 68 deaths. Neither count is described as final or as establishing the cause.

A newer entry by Castilla-La Mancha’s official emergency service records 68 deaths and 77 people hospitalised at 16:00 Spanish time — 17:00 Athens on 28 October. It supersedes the 14:00 Spanish-time entry as the latest timestamped count. Hospitalised people do not automatically equal all injured people, and these figures are not a final toll.
PLATECAM remains at the published operational situation 2. The family information line is 900 122 112. The updated casualty entry does not establish the collision’s cause; claims about it are not presented as investigation findings.

The official Castilla-La Mancha emergency page records a provisional toll of 64 deaths and 58 injured at 14:00 Spanish time — 15:00 Athens time on 28 October. This is that specific timestamped entry, not a final toll or a count claimed to be confirmed at the moment of reading.
PLATECAM was raised to operational situation 2 at 10:30 Spanish time — 11:30 Athens, after activation of the military emergency unit UME was requested. This escalation does not establish the cause.
