In a presidential proclamation dated 22 October 2026, Donald Trump directs the Commerce Secretary and US Trade Representative to negotiate with trading partners over imports of wind turbines and components.

He requires an update within 180 days. This is a reporting deadline, not the start date for a new tariff. Existing Section 232 tariffs remain unchanged.

The action rests on the US government's assessment of a national-security risk. Additional measures remain possible.
