Ilia: €20 million for reconstruction after the 2021 wildfires
The funding goes to the Region of Western Greece for public infrastructure. No detailed project list, timetable or process for private applicants has yet been announced.
€20 million has been allocated to the Region of Western Greece for the Reconstruction Plan of the Regional Unit of Ilia, according to a joint announcement by the Ministries of National Economy and Finance and Climate Crisis and Civil Protection on 8 October 2026.
The decision was issued by Deputy Economy and Finance Minister Nikos Papathanasis following a recommendation by the Government Committee for State Aid, chaired by Deputy Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Kostas Katsafados.
How the funding is structured
The allocation comes under the Special Programme for Natural-Disaster Response and Restoration within the 2026–2030 National Development Programme. Its stated purpose is to improve and create infrastructure that supports the recovery of areas in Ilia affected by the 2021 wildfires.
The announcement notes that the same special programme also funds the reconstruction plans for Evia and Evros. The new decision specifically concerns Ilia and the implementing public body in the Region of Western Greece.

The official announcement confirms the amount, funding mechanism and beneficiary public body, but does not list projects by municipality, budgets for individual interventions, project decision numbers or start and completion dates.
