Adrianos Golemis: Greece prepares for the Vast-PAM-1 mission to the ISS
Training and experiment planning were presented. The ministry targets July 2027; a planned mission is not the same as final launch approval.

Adrianos Golemis’s participation in the Vast-PAM-1 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) is at the training and scientific-experiment preparation stage. He and Greece’s Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence presented progress on 15 October 2026.
The ministry’s announcement places the mission in July 2027. This is a future flight plan, not a completed mission or final crew certification.
Preparations in Greece
According to the presentation, some preparations take place in Greece, including amateur-radio communications training and coordination of Greek research by the ministry and the Hellenic Space Center.
Microgravity experiments in medicine, pharmacology and technology are being planned, alongside educational activities connecting schools with the ISS. The release does not announce an open participation call, a deadline for schools or a final list of Greek experiments.
International framework and approvals
French space agency CNES confirms that Thomas Pesquet, Aleš Svoboda and Golemis are preparing for the same mission through training modules in Europe and the United States. Preparations include a qualifications assessment by the ISS’s Multilateral Crew Operations Panel (MCOP).
In its announcement of the agreement with ESA on 9 September 2026, Vast explicitly made Golemis’s participation subject to MCOP review and approval. The sources examined do not establish that this final approval has already been granted. The timing target and training activities should therefore be distinguished from a finalised departure date.
