National Archaeological Museum: final designs receive favourable opinions
The extension advances to its next stage; strategic environmental assessment approval remains pending.

KSNM and KAS issued favourable opinions on the final designs for upgrading and extending the National Archaeological Museum, the Culture Ministry announced on 16 October 2026.
The Chipperfield–Tombazis design envisages a new Patission Street entrance, exhibition spaces and a public park. It also covers the Epigraphic Museum.
The €40 million donation funds the studies, not the entire construction. Strategic environmental assessment approval remains pending. The opinions do not mean the extension is complete or open; no handover date was announced.
