Greece’s Development Ministry announced on 22 October that the voluntary National Price Reduction Initiative will continue through the end of 2026, following a meeting with SEV and SEVT representatives. The ministry says the Greek Supermarket Association also confirmed its participation.

What remains to be published

The Independent Authority for Market Control and Consumer Protection will announce the detailed product list and reductions in the coming days. The ministry reports approximately 1,400 product codes in the initial September–October period, excluding school supplies. That number is not the new list; school supplies will not be included in the next cycle.

Businesses participate voluntarily. The announcement does not introduce a compulsory blanket discount on all products.

Christmas package still being prepared

Reductions of up to 25% are mentioned as an advance announcement concerning specific product codes in a Christmas package still under preparation. They are not an already active general 25% discount on the entire shopping basket.
