ESPA: €13.87 million for energy upgrades at three health facilities
Funding decisions cover Karditsa General Hospital, its rehabilitation centre and Alexandroupolis University Hospital. No works timetable was announced.

Public expenditure totalling €13,869,238.43 has been approved for energy-efficiency work at three public health facilities, according to decisions announced by Greece's Ministry of National Economy and Finance on 13 October 2026.
The projects are part of the 2021–2027 ESPA programme for Environment and Climate Change. The announcement confirms funding but does not give dates for tenders, contract signing or completion. This is therefore a funding-approval stage, not completed construction.
Karditsa: €5.30 million
Total public expenditure of €5,300,566.36 has been approved for Karditsa General Hospital and the Karditsa Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre. The work covers a 20,335-square-metre hospital building and a 1,785-square-metre rehabilitation facility.
The plan includes thermal insulation, energy-efficient windows, upgraded heating and cooling, LED lighting, energy-management systems, category-A lifts and net-metered solar panels. It also includes four operating-theatre lights, an endoscopy tower and a laparoscopic tower. The stated target is to move the hospital from energy class E to B and the rehabilitation centre from C to B.
Alexandroupolis: €8.57 million
Public expenditure of €8,568,672.07 has been approved for the 75,634-square-metre University General Hospital of Alexandroupolis.
The plan covers an upgraded central building-management system, replacement of 8,562 light fittings with LEDs, insulation of 15,500 square metres of exterior walls, 2,710 square metres of energy-efficient windows, ventilation work and a 2 MWp solar installation. The stated target is a move from energy class D to B.
What still has to happen
Administrative and procurement steps are still required before work can begin. The announcement gives no deadline or application process for residents; it concerns public hospital infrastructure.
