A more responsible getaway: what a hotel’s EU Ecolabel means
Energy, water and waste are among the label’s criteria.

A “green hotel” description is not sufficient by itself. The EU Ecolabel for tourist accommodation follows specific European criteria.
What it addresses
The Commission lists environmental management, energy and water consumption, waste and food waste. Hotels and campsites can participate.
Check the official catalogue before booking, alongside transport, price and facilities. The label does not guarantee a particular guest experience or zero environmental impact. The current criteria remain valid until 31 December 2027, according to the official page.
