Education facilities operated by the Greek Public Employment Service (DYPA) in the regional units of Evia and the Dodecanese will remain closed today, Wednesday, 14 October 2026, as a precaution because of severe weather.

DYPA links the suspension to decision 85795/13.10.2026 by the Mayor of Chalkida and decision 5620/13.10.2026 by the South Aegean regional governor. The decision concerns DYPA's own education facilities in the specified areas.

What applies to classes

According to the official announcement, teaching will continue through synchronous or asynchronous remote learning where feasible. Students should follow instructions from their own facility for schedules and connection details.

What happens if disruption continues

DYPA says that decisions on the operation of its facilities over the following days will follow official school-closure decisions by the relevant municipalities and regional authorities.

Today's announcement is not a nationwide closure of all schools. It applies to DYPA education facilities in Evia and the Dodecanese; students and parents connected to other institutions should check notices from their municipality, regional authority or school.
