Activation on 19 October does not mean immediate full access; technical configuration follows.

Updated 19.10.2026 · 14:10, Athens time — What changed:
Greece’s Daedalus supercomputer was activated on 19 October 2026 in Lavrio. The official transcript of the prime minister’s discussion says full use of its computing capacity will follow initial tests.
Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence Minister Dimitris Papastergiou placed the first services in December, according to ERT, after necessary testing and technical configuration.
The infrastructure is intended for universities, research centres, startups, small and medium-sized businesses and public bodies. It forms PHAROS’s computing core for AI-model training, simulations and data processing.
The ministry gives a €58.9 million budget, funded through Greece 2.0 and EuroHPC. The inauguration does not confirm that every interested user already has access: these announcements do not describe an open application procedure for the new services.

PHAROS’ role
DAEDALUS supplies computing power, while PHAROS combines access with data, tools and technical support for developing AI models.
Today’s announcement does not include a new application deadline or full access terms. The inauguration date does not imply automatic resource allocation to every interested applicant.
