Greece’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 7.6% in September 2026, compared with 7.4% in August and 8.8% in September 2025, ELSTAT reported on 30 October. That is a monthly increase of 0.2 percentage points and an annual decline of 1.2 points.

Unemployed people numbered an estimated 359,609, up 7,509 monthly but down 57,627 annually. Employment stood at 4,391,208, down 8,945 from August but up 49,573 year-on-year.

Today’s Eurostat release also puts Greece at 7.6%, the euro area at 6.5% and the EU at 6.2%. Both European rates are stable against revised August figures.

These labour-force survey estimates are subject to revision. They are not the same as DYPA’s registered-unemployment counts and do not by themselves establish what caused the changes.
