The second summit between the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), scheduled for 24 October 2026 in Riyadh, has been postponed.

The European Council confirmed the decision on 15 October. Its announcement says a new date will be announced later, without giving a further timetable.

What is confirmed — and what is not

The official statement does not give a reason for the postponement. No specific cause is therefore attributed here to the European announcement, and the meeting is not presented as permanently cancelled.

The EU says it remains committed to deepening its strategic partnership with the GCC and sustaining the momentum of the first summit, held in October 2024. The change concerns the scheduling of the second meeting.
