US fines Air France and KLM $425,000 over Delta-coded flights
The decision concerns past flights through Iraqi airspace and compliance with US restrictions on codeshare services.

The US Department of Transportation (DOT) announced fines totalling $425,000 against Air France and KLM on 23 October 2026, over flights carrying the Delta Air Lines code through parts of Iraqi airspace restricted by the FAA.
Amounts and periods
Air France was fined $105,000 over more than 30 flights between April 2022 and November 2025. KLM was fined $320,000 over more than 100 flights between January 2022 and May 2025.
Codesharing allows an airline to sell a flight operated by another carrier under its own designator code. DOT says foreign airlines using US airline codes must comply with the relevant FAA restrictions. The orders also direct the carriers to cease and desist from future violations.
Reuters reports that $265,000 is due within 60 days, with the remainder conditional on new violations within a year. The airlines attributed the deviations to controller instructions, according to the same source.
