ADRION puts underwater security and critical infrastructure on its agenda
Six countries adopted a declaration on closer defence coordination in the Adriatic–Ionian region.

Greece, Albania, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia adopted a joint declaration in Venice on 5 October 2026. Greece published the text the following day.
Cooperation priorities
ADRION highlights critical infrastructure, underwater security, military mobility and hybrid threats. It calls for information-sharing and common, standardised requirements to improve interoperability.
The declaration also explores possible new European cooperation frameworks complementary to NATO and the EU. This is a political-strategic direction, not an already operational unified defence shield or a signed equipment procurement programme.
