ADEDY: facilitative work stoppage from 11:00 on 21 October
The nationwide decision covers public employees wishing to join the rallies, until the end of their shift. It is not an announcement that all services will close.

ADEDY has called a nationwide facilitative work stoppage for Wednesday 21 October 2026, from 11:00 until the end of the shift. Its 20 October announcement covers employees in all public services and under all employment arrangements who wish to participate in the rallies.
What the decision means
This is union coverage for participation in this action, not a decision to suspend every public service or a 24-hour general strike. The announcement provides no participation figures or list of services that will close.
People with a transaction or appointment planned that day can check arrangements with the relevant service. The general call for a stoppage does not automatically cancel all appointments.
ADEDY's demands
The confederation calls, among other things, for salary increases, restoration of 13th and 14th salary payments, permanent recruitment and greater funding for public education and health. These are union demands, not new benefits approved by the announcement.
The separate decisions concerning teachers remain distinct. A separate report covers DOE and OLME; ADEDY's new decision does not turn them into a single 24-hour strike across the entire public sector.
