AADE announced digital applications for Binding Origin Information (BOI) on 23 October 2026, citing decision A.1219/2026.

Application route

According to AADE, applications are submitted through myAADE under “My Requests → Customs → Origin → Binding Origin Information” (menu labels translated from Greek).

What BOI provides

The European Commission explains that BOI determines goods’ preferential or non-preferential origin and binds the holder and EU customs authorities. It is optional and concerns imports or exports after the decision is issued. It is normally valid for up to three years.

The necessary proof of origin is still required for a preferential duty rate. The three-year period concerns BOI validity, rather than application processing time. AADE’s release refers to time limits without specifying their duration; it gives no same-day issuance guarantee.

Assistance

Information is available free of charge on 1521, Monday–Friday 07:00–20:00, or digitally through my1521 around the clock.
