AADE notifies 55,000 taxpayers over backdated income paid in 2020

Notifications in myAADE request amended returns. The 72-instalment option is not automatic for every new liability.

AADE is contacting nearly 55,000 taxpayers over undeclared backdated earnings and pensions paid in 2020. Its 16 October announcement concerns cases with estimated tax of at least €100 and requests the necessary amended returns.

Notifications are sent by email and placed in personal myAADE inboxes. According to the authority, around 761,000 of 878,000 taxpayers have already declared this backdated income; 30% of those notified have responded by filing and paying.

What to check about instalments

The release refers to up to 72 instalments under E.2060/2026, subject to its conditions. The circular, dated 12 October, requires, among other things, debts overdue by 31 December 2023 and examines their repayment-arrangement status. Today’s notification therefore does not establish automatic eligibility for every tax liability arising now. Eligibility must be checked for the particular debt; any uncertainty requires clarification from AADE.

The authority says it did not send notices for deceased taxpayers or people with disability exceeding 67%. This concerns the notification campaign, not an announced tax exemption. The release sets no new general deadline for amended returns.
